My approach to creating a cappella music is collaborative, participatory, and aims to help connect and define groups through sonics and message.
I write original a cappella music as a means of helping groups of singers invest in their repertoire and in each other. With eye towards the stage and the studio, I create arrangements with the potential for both powerful live performances and nuanced multitrack recordings.
Most importantly, I thrive in the midst of deep engagement: collaborations that engage singers in the creative process, prioritize growth and learning alongside excellence, and allow every participant to bring the breadth of their artistry and personhood to the table. These projects tend to ask larger questions and demand more thoughtful answers, but always yield something worth the effort.
